“The illiterate of the 21st century will not be those who cannot read and write,
but those who cannot learn, unlearn, and relearn.”

~ Alvin Toffler, Future Shock

~~~
In the early ’90s I was a trainer at companies like IBM, Ball Metal Corporation, DOW Chemical and Hewlett-Packard to name a few. My message has never changed, I ask every audience, “Who are you? What do you want? and What are you willing to do to get it?” I ask each participant to challenge their beliefs, routines and goals to create the life they really want. Several responses I received from meeting planners and managers was that after my program some people quit their jobs! Good! We need to be in jobs that we enjoy and that enjoy us, making way for others who will do better in our “old” jobs.
I was actually hired several times by department managers to “do my program” in order that I might “inspire” some of their people to quit!
I’ll never forget the IBM’r who said, “The day things change at IBM is when the sun rises in the West.” Well, it’s been rising in the West for some time now! Life is all about change. Are you? Are your employees or members?
The more we can learn how to be flexible and change with and before the “times” change, we will come out the other side for the better. If not, it’s a very hard road.
“Something fundamental is going on –
beyond the tidal wave of technology, beyond the great job shift.
The nature of “who we are” is undergoing a tectonic shift.
Winners must learn to relish change
 with the same enthusiasm and energy that we have resisted it in the past.”
“You are first rate. At our Annual Management Meeting you adroitly interwove the content of Stress Management with your humorous views of life. As the internal trainer for Leprino, I am most impressed with your ability to link with both the president and senior VPs as well as the first line supervisors. That ability to bridge high and low and still stay light on your feet is admirable.”
    "The dogmas of the quiet past are inadequate to the stormy present. The occasion is piled high with difficulty, and we must rise with the occasion. As our case is new, so we must think anew and act anew." ~ Abraham Lincoln
